This feature is crucial for automating lead management, A/B testing, and improving engagement strategies.

What is the Split Action?

The Split Action allows you to send contacts through different pathways in your workflow, distributing them based on specified percentages or even random distribution. This feature is often used to test different versions of a workflow or to distribute workload across different teams.

Note that the Split Action only has one criteria: random. You can adjust what percentage of contacts go down any number of paths. If you want to "split" contacts by a criteria (like order size) then use the if/else action.
Action - If/Else

Additionally, keep in mind that once a contact is assigned to a path they remain assigned to that path. If the contact should enter the same split again they will not be (re)assigned randomly, they will go down the same path.

How to Use the Split Action

Step1: Add the Split Action

Navigate the the workflow builder, click the “+” icon to add a new action, then browse or search for Internal > Split.

Step 2: Configure the Split Action

Select “Random Split” from the Distribution Type dropdown (the only option).

Step 3a: Configure Paths

In the Paths section you can add or remove paths (up to 5), rename paths, and configure their percentage (%) split.

Step 3b: Configure Paths – 100% Total

The path weightages (percentages) must add up to 100%.
